Environment

One of my overriding principles is my commitment to helping us all leave the environment in a better state than we found it. Climate Change is an issue but it needs tackling by investment in alternative technologies; in bio fuels, for ICE engines and aircraft, solar in appropriate places such as on large industrial buildings rather than on our valuable agricultural land. The Government has already taken massive steps - support for farmers and landowners to prioritise improving the environment, reducing carbon emissions and enabling sustainable food production, stepping up on tree planting, ensuring cleaner air and bathing waters through the new Environment Act - but we still have a long way to go.

One of the reasons our little corner of Wiltshire is so special, is the breath-taking countryside that surrounds us and the diverse wildlife that inhabits it. I am fiercely committed to protecting this and to ensuring that whatever we humans do, is done in harmony with and not to the detriment of the natural environment.

We can bring our world back to life, but we need action now.
